I Have The 3 Flashing Red Lights On My XBox 360, What Do I Do Now?

Are you confronted by the dreaded XBox 360 red ring of death? Are you wondering what to do now? I was in the same fix a while back and when I tried to find out what to do I became even more confused. If that is happening to you, read on.

My XBox 360 was still under warranty the first couple of times it happened to me so it was fixed by Microsoft for free. When I sent it in to be fixed I did have to wait for almost two months to get it back, but at least I didn’t have to pay for it.

I was told that it was going to cost me about $140.00 plus shipping the last time it happened. I knew that it had to be less expensive to find a way to repair my XBox 360 red ring of death myself.

The first thing I did was a Google search on “how to fix your 360 red ring of death“. I came up with a lot of different information. It took me a while to sort through all of it and some of it was good and some was not so good.

One of the methods wanted me to bake my console in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes. I thought that I had an XBox 360, not a cake, so that one wasn’t going to work for me.

Another method required me to get out my soldering iron and open the case of my console. That was not going to work for me either because I can’t solder that well.

Yet another method wanted me to wrap my console in a blanket or towel until it overheated. I didn’t want to burn up my XBox 360, I just wanted to fix my red ring of death fast.

According to most of the sources I found, the purpose behind the methods mentioned above is to melt the solder joint between the graphics card and the motherboard on the XBox 360. Supposedly the joint is weak and that is what is causing the problem . The way I figured it though, if I used one of the above methods it would melt other solder joints too and my XBox 360 would still have the ring of doom.

One of my buddies told me about the way he fixed his XBox 3 rings of death and said that it had worked great for him. I decided to give it a try and it worked great for me too. I figured a lot of other people would appreciate finding a good way to fix their XBox 360 themselves so I thought I would share what I found.

Is It Your Turn To Cook The Holiday Dinner?

Roasted TurkeyPhoto by Miles Gehm

Hello again everyone. Well, the holidays are almost upon us. Is it your turn this year to cook the holiday dinner? Do you want to impress the mother-in-law with your cooking prowess? If your cooking utensils are like mine were, that may be harder to do than you think. My old roasting pan was great in it’s day but that day was long gone. I ran across this lens on Squidoo and decided to try out this new roasting pan. I am glad I did and my guests will be too.

I love to cook (yeah, I know what you’re thinking, I’m a guy and guys aren’t supposed to love to cook. My wife loves that I love to cook though) and I want good cookware to do it with. I like nothing better than to roast a nice turkey or my all time favorite, prime rib. This new roasting pan helps me to make them turn out just right.

There is one little draw back to this new pan, it can be difficult to clean. I have found that a little baking soda on a scrubbing sponge usually does the trick though. Other than that I am very pleased with this pan. It has such an even heat that whatever I cook in it comes out perfect every time. So, without further ado, jump on over to Squidoo, check out this lens and get your kitchen into prime cooking shape for the holidays. While you are at Squidoo you should go ahead and make a lens or two of your own.

That One Of A Kind Gift

Hello everyone.  The lens I am going to highlight today is to help all you out there that have that special friend that you want to get an equally special gift for.  If you are like I am, you go around to all the stores looking for that special something and either it just isn’t there or what is there has pricing that is way out of context. And the other part of that equation is that even though what I find may be special, it doesn’t contain the right amount of love. What can be done about this situation? Well, I am going to tell you.

You can start making soap for gifts. Yes, I said soap. I know, I know. The term making your own soap brings to mind pictures of Granny with her big black kettle sitting on the fire out back stirring the ‘magic mixture’ with a big wooden paddle. Not so any more.  While some of the processes and ingredients are similar, you don’t have to start the big fire out back, set the huge cast iron kettle on it and break out the boat oar for stirring. Another nice thing is that the finished product doesn’t have to look (or smell) the same either. Just look at the picture above, does that look like what you picture when you think of homemade soap?

There are several different methods for making your own soap. There is the traditional method of cooking lye and adding oil to get those nice hard milled type bars. There is the cold pour method that gives you those nice creamy beauty bar types of soap. Then there is the melt and pour method that gives you those unique one of a kind designer soaps. Don’t worry that you have never even thought of making your own soap, there are all kinds of instructions and recipes available and most of the processes are fairly easy.

I forgot to mention, there is an added bonus to making your own soap…cash in your pocket. Not only do you save money over the cost of buying it in the store for your own use, with the proper packaging and marketing you can make a nice little side income for yourself. The homemade soaps are in high demand and can be highly profitable. If you want to find out more about getting in on this, follow this link to the lens that tells you how to do it by making your own soap for gifts and cash.

A Lens That Tells The Truth About Your Dog And His Diet

22 10 2009

Hello everyone.  I was researching about dogs one day and ran across a page that told a frightening story about what my dog was eating.  Well, if you have a dog, yours may be eating some of the same things.  I found out that I was “loving my dog to death” and was probably poisoning him.  Now, I know my dog is part of the family and I am sure yours is too.  When I saw the stuff that my poor dog had been eating, I decided right then and there to get the word out to other dog owners.  One of the first things I did was make this Squidoo lens.

This was my first lens and it is admittedly a bit rough.  Hey, they get smoother as they go along.  The main purpose for this one was to get the word out to dog owners so hopefully everyone will be forgiving of the roughness of it.  So, enough about that.  Click on the link to see my first lens about what to do when it is time to put your dog on a diet.  After you check it out, be sure to leave your comments, questions or suggestions in the comments section.  The link will open in a new window so you can comment both here and on the lens.  Enjoy.
